On 23 October, the 3d Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in Finland was officially opened in Turku. During the opening ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius said that the new Honorary Consulate would contribute to the promotion of economic and bilateral ties between Lithuania and Finland.

The Ambassador of Lithuania to Finland Valdemaras Sarapinas, the Ambassador of Finland to Lithuania Christer Michelsson, and the Mayor of the City of Turku Aleksi Randell welcomed the guests.

An active Finnish businessman Tomis Taipale, head of the company Mamec Oy, has been appointed as Lithuania’s Honorary Consul.

The city of Turku was not accidentally chosen. Turku is a city on the southwest coast of Finland. It has a long history as Finland’s largest city and a major seaport in the Baltic Sea region.
